 HISTORY

Filipino-American Community of Southern Colorado

Founded in 1993 by Chairman Mr. "Ron" Rolando Nono, the purpose and mission of the Filipino-American Community of Southern Colorado are to teach all of its members, young and old, about the cultures and customs of Filipinos. The goal is to create an improved living atmosphere for the FACSC. The community is a non-profit organization spearheading the promotion of the welfare and well-being of its members through unity, interpersonal social commitment, charity, onboarding, civic engagement, advocacy, service, development, and empowerment.

FACSC hosts annual events and mentorship programs for its community members and youth to teach Filipino heritage and culture. As an ambassador for education, forty percent of the organization's funds are dedicated to scholarships and education programs. Since 1996, about six high school graduates have received $250-$450 each year. Annually, about $2-3K in scholarships has been awarded to graduating students.

As a huge supporter of women's empowerment, the FACSC hosts an annual Little Miss, Miss, and Mrs. Fil-Am Pageant. The pageant aims to promote and develop the participants' strengths, confidence, and self-esteem and find one's personality. The women within the organization's community have helped raise over $250K since the organization was founded. The funds benefited thousands of Filipinos and Filipino Americans within the community and in the Philippines, supporting alleviating human suffering in the face of natural disasters and emergencies.

The organization also provides consulate outreach, veterans, medical, and mental health assistance. FACSC has dedicated ambassadors, liaisons, and points of contact for these services to support its community and members. As a community servant leader, FACSC and its members has dedicated thousands of community service hours and donations to support those in need. The organization values giving back to the community through unity and friendship while showcasing Filipino culture and heritage.
